I am a German-born American photographer based in Los Angeles and New York. My work has appeared in W Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, Condé Nast Traveler India, Elite Traveler, The Wall Street Journal and Schön Magazine.
I am passionate about shooting portraits that tell a story about an individual, a community or a movement. I believe in the power of portraiture to spark discussion and introspection and to create positive change.
In 2016, my “Ageless Beauty” portrait series, an unretouched series celebrating woman aged 50 years and above, was covered in the media by The Huffington Post, SBS Australia and PDN Magazine. It was later featured in the “Bodies” exhibition at the Blank Wall Gallery in Athens, Greece, and published in Schön Magazine: The Book.
In 2017, my “Transparent” portrait series, highlighting the diversity of the transgender community, was endorsed by Kenneth Cole, and covered in the media by Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire Hungary and The Huffington Post.
I am currently working on a portrait series entitled “Black,” which will explore the diversity and complexity of blackness in America today.
In addition to portraiture, I have also written two photography guide books: “What They Didn’t Teach You in Photo School” (2015) and “If You’re Bored With Your Camera, Read This Book” (2017) published by Ilex Press. Each is available on Amazon and in Barnes & Noble bookstores across the country.
